The body of a missing man has been found on a Bolton building site.

Police are now trying to trace the movements of 30-year-old Karl Englemark after he was discovered near to Bridgewater Avenue on Monday.

Initial enquiries into Mr Englemark's death indicated there were no suspicious circumstances and a file was passed to the coroner.

The findings of a Home Office post-mortem were unascertained however, so police have now reopened the investigation into his death.

Mr Englemark was reported missing from his home in North Manchester on Thursday 1 February.

On Friday 2 February, he checked into the Hilton Hotel on Deansgate around 5.30pm and left approximately 10.30pm that evening.

He was not seen again until his body was discovered on a building site in Bolton on Monday 5 February.

Officers investigating the death are trying to trace his movements to find out exactly what happened to him.

Sadly, Karl’s family do not yet know the events that led to his death, which is something we are hoping to find out for them.

“We need to know how and why Karl travelled to Bolton, so we’re trying to track his movements between 2 February and 5 February and I’m asking the public to help me do this.

“We know that Karl may have been chatting to members of the public on his travels so I want people to really study the image we’ve released of him and get in touch with us if you remember speaking to him – what you spoke about could help us find out what happened to him.

“Whatever information you have, please let us know so we can give his family the answers they deserve.”
