Blackpool Tower is set to feature on a new five pound coin to celebrate British landmarks. Buckingham Palace revealed plans for a special coin ahead of the tower's 125th year.

It's the first time it's been featured on a coin. More details are expected to be released by the Royal Mint over the next few weeks.

A new coin of silver of the denomination of five pounds shall be made, being a coin of a standard weight of 28.28 grammes, a standard diameter of 38.61 millimetres, a standard composition of 925 parts per thousand fine silver, and being circular in shape.
