Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in Liverpool.

Police were called on Wednesday to reports that a 38-year-old man had been stabbed in the back on Aldwark Road in Dovecot, after being approached by a group of men.

The offenders possibly then made off from the scene on foot in the direction of Page Moss Lane.

The victim suffered serious injuries and has been taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is described as stable.

I want to make it clear that Merseyside Police will not tolerate the use of knives as weapons on our streets, and the force is absolutely determined to eradicate knife crime.

It is unacceptable for people to behave in this way in a residential area and we would appeal to anyone who might know something, no matter how small, to work with us to help make your community a safer place.
