Five arrests in 'fast-paced' attempted murder investigation after man shot

Three more people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was shot in Manchester.

Police were called to reports of shots being fired near Scotland Hall Road in Newton Heath at around 5.15pm on Friday afternoon.

The 20 year old victim had a number of gunshot wounds and remains in hospital for treatment.

Two 19-year-old men and one 20-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in custody for questioning.

Two teenagers who were arrested yesterday in connection with the incident have since been released under investigation.

This is a fast-paced investigation as we work to find the people responsible for the shooting, which has left a man in hospital.

Our enquiries have continued throughout the night and we will not stop until we have established exactly how this man came to be shot on Friday.
