Police believe three seperate burglaries are linked, after elderly residents were targetted by men claiming to be from a gas or water company.

Officers want to speak to two men after the homes were targeted within a few hours on Friday 22 June.

A woman in her 70's in Harpurhey became suspicious and told one of the men she didn't have a gas supply, he barged passed her and into the house. Later that day a man in his 90's answered the door in Crumpsall, the man claimed to be from the waterboard before demanding money. The third robbery happened in Blackley when an elderly woman refused a man entry but was forced out of the way as he and another man searched her house.

“Whoever is committing these heartless crimes is clearly targeting the elder people in our society to take advantage of their good nature with no regard for the effect they have caused."
