Schools disappointment for thousands

The past 24 hours have brought disappointment for thousands of families across the capital.

By e-mail and by post, they have been told that their children have not got into the primary schools they had set their hearts on.

More than 20,000 children have failed to get their first choice.

Over 6,000 did not get any of their top six choices.

London's councils say they have experienced unprecedented demand for places this year because of a recent baby boom.
