Olympic Torch Relay : Day 53
Athletics legend Sir Roger Bannister returned to the site of his greatest sporting achievement as he started today's journey of the Olympic flame.
At the track - now renamed in honour of the famous middle-distance runner - the athlete broke the magical four-minute mile barrier on a balmy evening on May 6, 1954.
During the course of today a host of sporting celebrities will carry the flame which will travel 87 miles and be transported by 111 torch bearers in total.
The flame will travel from Oxford via Henley-on-Thames where five-times Olympic gold medallist Sir Steve Redgrave will carry it in a boat to the Leander Club, the prestigious rowing club.
Celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal will carry a torch through part of Slough before it moves to Eton Dorney Lake, an Olympic venue, then later swimming instructor Renate Beynon, 66, has the honour of carrying the flame into Windsor Castle where it will change hands twice.
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will watch London 2012 chairman Lord Coe carry the flame before 12-year-old Phil Wells leaves the Castle grounds along The Long Walk.
At Ascot racecourse Olympic gold medallist Denise Lewis will pass the flame to jockey Frankie Dettori who will carry the torch on a horse.
Windsor 14.32
The Torch Relay is expected to start in Windsor near the A308. It will carry on past Windsor Castle. The torch passes by The Home Park King.The relay finishes on Albert Road.
Egham 15.34
The Egham leg of the relay starts on the Egham by Pass. It then runs through the western side of the town. along the High Street, Church Road and Station Road. The relay finishes at the Innovation Centre in Whitehall Lane.
Ascot 16:26
The torch will arrive in Ascot via the A329 London Road, making its way down the High Street to Ascot Racecourse. After a 20-minute break the Torch is expected to depart the Racecourse, passing by Heatherwood Hospital.
Bracknell 17:31
The torch sets off from the corner of Long Hill Road and London Road. It will then travel along Millennium Way and Skimped Hill Lane. This section of the relay will finish at The Peel Centre.
Reading 18:14
The torch will start at Sutton Seeds roundabout, before travelling along London Road, crossing the IDR and being paraded along the riverside at The Oracle.
