New figures, collected by the charity Broadway, show that the number of rough sleepers aged under 25 in London increased 158% over 12 months. It found there were 638 young people verified as rough sleeping in 2011/12, compared with 247 in 2010/11.

Pandora Minott became homeless after her family experienced problems. She needed the help of the charity Centrepoint to get back on her feet.

Centrepoint says homelessness services across the UK have lost over 1,500 bed spaces in the last year. Balbir Chatrick from the charity says the recession is forcing young people into homelessness.

The singer Newton Faulkner is backing the work that Centrepoint does. He says it helps to solve homeless people's long-term problems.
