We will remember them.
Words which have echoed all around today as the nation marks Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day. As is tradition, the Queen led tributes to our fallen servicemen and women at the Cenotaph in Whitehall. With many of our troops fighting in Afghanistan and with barely a week going by when you don't hear of a soldier's passing, you can't fail to be moved by the poignant scenes of people stopping for a moment to remember those who have given up so much.
Over in east London, Leyton Orient football club are marking Armistice Day with the staging of a play based on the club's history. In the days when it was known as Clapton Orient, the club was the first to sign up and send players and staff to fight in The Great War. 42 made the journey to the battlefields of the Somme, 3 never returned. Tonight, the play "The Greater Game" will get its world premiere. We've been to see final rehearsals today and to find out what this means to the families of those men who never made it home to play football again. You can find out more about it here:
In other news, a pensioner has died after being attacked in his home in west London. Police were called to a burglary at a house on Hazlebury Road in Fulham early this morning, only to find the body of a 73-year-old man inside. We've been at the scene today and will be able to bring you the latest on what sounds a brutal crime.
We've also had an update today from Hertfordshire Police who had been searching for 22 year old Jack Wall in relation to a murder enquiry in Stevenage. Mr Wall has now been arrested and police are searching the home he shared with Amelia Arnold, who was last seen on Wednesday. We'll have the latest on this story too.
Finally, the 18th century gold carriage used to carry the new Lord Mayor of the City of London yesterday had a bit of a hitch on the way home from the Lord Mayor's Show... it ended up being towed on the back of a breakdown truck. We hope to bring you the details and the pictures on tonight's show, so do join the team and I at 6:25pm.
Hope to see you then,
