Today the Secretary of State for Business, Vince Cable, announced substantial government grants to top university science departments (four of which are in London) to turn research into business, which will create wealth and employment here at home.

Vince Cable visited Space Syntax , a small but highly successful architectural and town planning company in Holborn, which has grown from and into a tight relationship with University College London.
They look at how buildings and the spaces between them impact on the mood and behaviour of people passing through.
They have redesigned the pedestrian layout of Trafalgar Square and are now working on Washington Square in the US. Today they secured a contract to redesign Jeddah.
