Cidney's charity chop

Nine-year-old Cidney Miller from Barnet raised more than £5,000 when she had her brown hair cut to a short bob on Sunday.

The Lyonsdown School pupil was making the gesture to say a special thank you to North London Hopsice for taking care of her terminally ill grandmother.

She'll also be donating her hair to a charity which makes wigs for children.

Cidneys grandmother was cared for by the hospice staff in Finchley, until she died of bowel cancer this summer.

Her grandfather spoke of his gratitude for the work the charity does:

Grandma was still alive when I told her I wanted to cut my hair off. She cried. She would have been very proud.
