A young mum who gave birth in a shopping centre has thanked the security staff who helped deliver her baby.
Daphne Bolus from Manor Park, went into labour outside the Waitrose store in Canary Wharf and her son Matthew was born behind makeshift screens as rush hour commuters made their way home, just feet away.
Security guards who assisted with the birth were given advice over the phone by hospital medics and the supermarket provided towels, duvets and pillows.
Dad, Timothy, is reported as saying: "we can't thank the staff enough. They were professional and calm and made us very comfortable."
