An abandoned patch of land near the Olympic Park is to become the UK's largest indoor ski centre, London Mayor Boris Johnson has announced.
Westfield Stratford City will submit a planning application to London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) by the end of the summer for the land next to its retail centre in Stratford, east London. Shops, hotel and restaurants are also set to be part of the application.
The new ski centre would be more than double the size of other similar UK centres and be comparable with Ski Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
Mr Johnson claimed that Westfield's ski centre plan underscores "massive confidence" from investors in the area.
