With schools now finished for the summer, this weekend is set to be the big getaway.
Many European destinations are basking in warm temperatures, although like the UK the heat comes with associated heavy showers and thunderstorms.
The weather for us this weekend looks particularly unsettled and weather alerts for rain are in force from the Met Office.
There is a little bit of uncertainty as to the timing of the rain, but at the moment we are tracking an area of heavy and thundery rain pushing up from Northern France through the day tomorrow.
It looks like we start tomorrow dry, but through the morning the cloud will continue to build with rain pushing up late morning, early afternoon. This spell of rain is the first wave, it will be closely followed by a second wave of more heavy and thundery rain through the evening.
We could see up to 30mm of rainfall in places and in a very short space of time.
The Met Office weather alert highlights the risk of localised surface water flooding and surface spray on the road.
This will no doubt lead to some tricky driving conditions.
Not great news, particularly as the AA expects this weekend to be one of the busiest on our roads.
The rain continues for a time overnight but will gradually pull away.
Sunday on balance is looking like the better day of the weekend, a day of sunshine and showers, although you might be lucky to miss them.
