Union leader Bob Crow rode off into the sunset amid chaotic scenes at an East London crematorium.
His horse-drawn hearse was mobbed and halted at the gates by trade unionists. Earlier they applauded as another cortège arrived - only to be told it was the wrong one.
Crow's procession included cars carrying flowers in the shape of footballs and the RMT logo.
Hundreds of people lined Aldersbrook Road at the entrance to the City of London Crematorium in East London. A sea of banners gave the impression of a union rally.
Islington Labour MP Jeremy Corby said Crow would have been "tickled pink" by the turnout.
