Boris Johnson finally came clean today and revealed the worst kept secret in politics - he plans to become an MP in 2015.
London's mayor made his announcement at the end of a key speech on Britain's future in Europe.
Johnson said he could no longer continue dodging the question and admitted: "In all probability I will try to find somewhere to stand in 2015."
He insisted he would continue to serve as mayor until the end of his second term in 2016.
Johnson refused to speculate on which seat he would seek but didn't rule out Uxbridge and South Ruislip where the Conservative association is looking for a candidate.
