Pensioner attacked for just £10: "I won't leave Soho"

A 93 year old pensioner who was thrown to the floor for just the £10 he had in his wallet has told ITV News he won't be forced out of his beloved Soho home by the attack.

Stanley Evans said he had lived in the area for more than 50 years and wouldn't be going anywhere.

Asked whether the frightening incident would make him consider going to live with family, he said "No, no, no! I love it here! That's what keeps me young!"

Stanley, who lives alone, was thrown to the ground by a mugger as he came back from the shops in Westminster on January 31st. He said the attacker asked him if he needed help, before grabbing at his coat pocket and throwing him to the ground.

He said he couldn't get up for 5 minutes after the attack and only managed to get to his feet by hauling himself up on nearby chairs. But the shocking attack, which was captured on CCTV, hasn't fazed him - he said if he was able to he would have chased after the thief.

I was more surprised than anything, I wasn't scared.

If I was fitter I would have gone out after him!
