Hundreds march for equality on International Women's Day

Hundreds of people are marching through Trafalgar Square to demand equality on International Women's Day.

A number of celebrities are also taking part including singers Annie Lennox and Paloma Faith, Made in Dagenham actress Gemma Arterton and BBC Radio 1's Gemma Cairney

The granddaughter of Suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurst, Dr Helen Pankhurst is also taking part.

"The Suffragettes of old would say that the vote was only ever the beginning.

"If they were alive today, they would be outraged by the myriad of injustices faced by women and girls around the world."

Members of the crowd marched from near City Hall towards the Royal Festival Hall, with many carrying banners and dressed in Suffragette style.
