Man due in court charged with the murder of a minicab driver in Leyton

A 25-year-old manhas appeared in court charged with the murder of part-time minicab driver Abdi Gutale in Leyton, east London.

Mr Gutale, 24, died when gunman opened fire as he drove his Vauxhall Zafira on a residential street during the early hours on May 14th. He had finished his shift and had friends in the car when shots were fired after 3am near the junction of Melbourne Road and Capworth Steet in Leyton.

Kingsley Harvey from Leytonstone appeared at Thames Magistrates' Court and was remanded in custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on 7th June.

Four other men arrested on suspicion of murder have been bailed pending further enquiries.
