Murder probe after man dies following attack in village pub

A murder investigation has been launched after a man died following an fight in a village pub in Buckinghamshire.

Detectives are trying to establish what happened inside the George on Burnham High Street last night. Officers were called there just after midnight on Friday night.

The 48-year-old victim has been named as Dean Haverley. He was treated at the scene but later died in hospital.

Next-of-kin have been informed and a murder investigation has begun.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Steel, who is leading the inquiry, described the assault as an isolated incident.

We are conducting a thorough investigation to find out what happened inside the public house last night.

My appeal is to anyone who was in The George Inn around midnight who witnessed the assault or has any information regarding the incident to contact police immediately.

A scenewatch will remain in place at the public house and there will be police activity in the area. If you have any concerns please don't hesitate to approach one of our officers or PCSOs.
