A 19 year old found stabbed on the street in South Croydon was a lovely boy who 'wouldn't have hurt anybody', according to those who knew him.

The youth, who has not yet been officially named, was found suffering from stab wounds on Heather Way last night. He was taken by Air Ambulance to hospital but died from his injuries.

Neighbours told us the death came as a shock, on a quiet street that has not seen trouble for decades. Natalie McIndoe, whose own teenage children knew the victim, told ITV News her children were so upset by the death that they don't want to live in the area anymore.

He was a lovely, friendly boy who wouldn't have hurt anybody. This has had a devastating effect on young people on the estate. My son has been in tears saying he wants to move away.

The 19 year old is the 8th teenager to die from a stabbing on the streets of the capital this year.

Marlon El More, a community action worker who knew two of the other victims, said he wants Sadiq Khan to do more to stop the deaths.

With the latest spike in knife crime I am personally disappointed not to have heard from the Mayor.

It's true young people need to think about the consequences when they carry knives but it would help if the youth clubs and resources they rely on were not starved of resources.
