The 'great atmosphere' at Night Tube stations has been praised by the British Transport Police Credit: PA

Around 100 officers patrolled the Central and Victoria lines as the long-heralded Night Tube finally launched in the early hours of Saturday.

The British Transport Police said there were no reported offences targeting the public or rail staff on trains or stations, which remained open between 12.30am and 5am on Saturday and Sunday.

This was a historic event for London and we are not only honoured to have served as part of it, we are also delighted it went so well.

There was a great atmosphere throughout and I would like to thank the travelling public for their support and cooperation, which guaranteed the launch weekend passed off peacefully.
