More than 500 people were trapped on the London Eye last night after the wheel stopped due to a "technical fault".

Fire fighters and ambulance staff were called just before 10pm after passengers were left stranded in the Eye's pods.

There have been no reported injuries.

Thankfully the London Eye mechanical team rectified the problem and got the wheel turning so all guests could safely disembark before any action was required by our crews.

An aerial ladder platform also attended the incident.

Yesterday evening the London Eye was temporarily stopped to investigate a technical issue.

Our technical team were immediately on scene to assess the problem and assist in exiting guests from the London Eye.

All guests were safely disembarked by 10.40pm and attended to by London Eye staff.

This was a technical issue which at no point put anyone at risk. We obviously apologise to the people affected and will make full compensation.

The London Eye has reopened this morning.
