Tube strike: A limited service on eight of the 11 lines

Commuters faced severe delays around London as a 24-hour strike by London Underground staff continued this morning.

Transport for London say a limited service is operating on eight of the 11 tube lines and it expects 60 per cent of stations to be open across the network.

Although National Rail services are not affected by the strike there are no Underground services from key interchange stations such as Victoria, King's Cross, Waterloo, Paddington, Euston, Bank and London Bridge.

There are no services at all on the Victoria or Waterloo &City lines.

We have hundreds of Travel Ambassadors on hand to help keep customers informed of what services are running and to help them get around the capital.

This strike, called by the leadership of the RMT and TSSA unions is unnecessary. We had always intended to review staffing levels and have had constructive discussions with the unions. We agree that we need more staff in our stations and have already started to recruit 200 extra staff and this is likely to increase further as we work through the other areas that need to be addressed.
