London songwriter pens Grammy nominated song for Beyonce

A Beyonce song written by a songwriter from London has been nominated for a Grammy Award. Carla Marie Williams from Harlesden in north London has written hits for stars including Alesha Dixon, Girls Aloud and The Saturdays.

Carla's work also includes Freedom, sung by Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar. The track is up for a Grammy award in the Best Rap/Sung Performance.

The Grammy's which will be held in Los Angeles next month recognises the best recordings, compositions, and artists.

It was incredible. One minute I was doing talent shows in Harlesden, the next I was taking boat trips on the Hudson River, visiting Madison Square gardens and performing at the Apollo. It ignited a fierce desire to make music my life.
