A horse loose on the M25 has died after it was hit by a lorry. Highways bosses issued a warning when the pony was spotted on the grass verge of Europe's busiest ring road.
The pony suffered a broken leg when it was hit by a HGV lorry and had to later be put down at the roadside. Screens were put up around the horse as highways officers tried to keep it calm but a vet said its injuries were too severe.
It was first spotted by Highways England at around 5.45am this morning at junction 3 to Swanley, south east London who closed one lane to deal with the incident.
