Police were driving past the store near Victoria station, central London, at 3:30am on Tuesday when they came across the burglary.

The suspects, who wore motorcycle helmets, and gloves are believed to have made off from the scene on scooters and mopeds.

House of Fraser's bags start from £250 for a cross-body satchel, with the most expensive style - a black python Bayswater - is priced at £2,495.

The raid on the department store in Victoria Street would have been very loud and will have attracted attention despite the time of night.

A lot of glass was smashed as entry was forced and I believe that those travelling in and around the area at the time would have seen something that can assist investigators.

The main glass pane smashed is located directly opposite Benugo Café and Leon Restaurant.

The suspects made off with 33 high-value Mulberry handbags.

We have released a selection of images of the handbags stolen in an effort to help trace those involved.

A number of enquiries, including the recovery of detailed CCTV footage is in hand.
