CCTV released after car driven into man outside south London bar

This is the moment a car is deliberately driven into a man, apparently knocking him unconscious outside a south London bar.

Detectives have released CCTV footage in the hope of tracking down witnesses and the victim himself.

Police say the man who was knocked to the ground was not there when paramedics arrived outside the Mekhan Bar & Restaurant in Bromley Road, Catford.

Other CCTV footage, not released to the public, shows the car make several more manoeuvres according to police, deliberately targeting other pedestrians before driving down Rushey Green, towards Lewisham.

Detectives believe there was an altercation inside the bar that led to the driver targeting pedestrians, and that two young women who made their own way to hospital also suffered bruising in the incident.

This was a very serious incident which could have had fatal consequences for the man involved. We are very concerned about what has taken place and would urge the victim - and anyone else with information - to contact us as soon as possible.

We really need to hear from any members of the public or witnesses who were present that evening, either inside the club or outside the venue and who saw what happened. Anything they tell us will be treated in complete confidentiality.
