People are being advised to avoid Tooting High Street in south London after a burst water main sent water cascading down the road. The problems began when a pipe burst at around 04:40 this morning.
Video and images posted on social media showed water flooding the roads around Tooting Broadway Station. The A24 Tooting High Street was closed causing congestion to Colliers Wood Station. The A217 Mitcham Road was also closed.
Thames Water said it is working with Transport for London and the emergency services to get things back to normal as soon as possible. It comes as many homes in south London were left without water following last week's bad weather. Today Thames Water said a large number of customers in the SW and SE now have their supply back, although localised airlocks continue to affect some properties.
