Pet chihuahua shot in the head at a house in north London

A pet chihuahua was shot in the head and killed at a house in north London.

Suzzanna Day let her five-year-old dog, Lola, into the back garden as she and her three children - aged 11, nine and two - were inside the house unpacking from a recent trip.

I took a bag upstairs to my bedroom and when I came back down I went out to call her back in. She was just laying there in a pool of blood.

I was freaking out and screaming. My brother, who lives just around the corner, raced around. He rushed her to the vet.

– Suzzanna Day

Suzzanna thought another animal may have got into her garden - which backs onto a park - and attacked Lola.

But the vet did an x-ray and found a metal pellet lodged in her skull. The dog was shot in the St Pauls Road area of Islington on Wednesday afternoon.

This is utterly heartbreaking for Lola and her family.

Little Lola was just sniffing and playing in her own garden where she should have been safe. For someone to have shot her in the head is absolutely despicable.
