The brother of a former EastEnders actress whose headless body was found dumped in a canal will appear in court today charged with her murder.

Post-mortem examination inconclusive

Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses and information following the discovery of a body in the Regent's Canal in Hackney.

A murder investigation is underway after the torso of a female was discovered close to Broadway Market around 14:40 on Tuesday 6 March.

Officers believe they know the identity of the victim but are awaiting further forensic tests before formal identification can take place. This process may take some days.

A post-mortem examination was undertaken at Poplar Mortuary on Wednesday 7 March 2012. The results have proved inconclusive.

Friends of former Eastenders star ask for information on her whereabouts

Gemma, 29, who starred in the soap as Kerry Skinner back in 2001, vanished from Bethnal Green, East London.

Last night 100 friends carried out a search and handed out leaflets.

Her brother Danny, 33, said: "We are all going out of our mind with worry. Her phone has been switched off since Thursday afternoon."
