The supermarket giant wants to open a new store in Goldalming, but today residents are staging a protest march ahead of a public meeting on the issue. They hope to prove that there is a massive swell of feeling against the multinational chain.

Residents fight plans for Tesco

Godalming residents who are fighting plans for a new Tesco Express are staging a protest march before a public meeting today.

6,500 people have signed a petition against the store, which locals say is too close to a school.

Jeremy Hunt MP is chairing the meeting at the Wilfred Noyce Community Centre.
