Man who fell into a canal in Watford on Saturday is found dead

Body of missing Watford man thought to be recovered

The body of a man who went missing after falling into a canal in fog is thought to have been recovered. The body was found yesterday in the River Colne in Hertfordshire.

Police believe the body's that of Kevin Wilkinson. The 50 year old was walking along a path at around 4am on Saturday when it's believed he fell in.

Description of missing man

The man is described as white, 5ft 9in tall, of heavy build, balding and with tattoos on his forearms. He was wearing a black jacket, white shirt, blue jeans and white trainers. His clothes are likely to be very wet.

Search fails to find man

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service carried out searches of the canal this morning. They say the water is waist deep in that location and it's possible the man was able to get out of the canal nearby and not seen by his friends because of the low visibility.

Appeal for help to find Watford man

Police appealing to the public to help find a man who fell into a canal in Watford on Saturday morning.

A 50 year old man had been walking with friends along a towpath near Wiggenhall Road shortly after 4am when it's understood he fell in. His friends lost sight of him in the darkness and heavy fog.
