South West Trains disruption

Passengers faced long delays today, because of emergency engineering works on South West Trains. The train company says services are now back to normal.

South West Trains apologises for delays

"Emergency Engineering Work in the Wimbledon area is causing disruption to South West Trains services into and out of London Waterloo.

"All train services between Waterloo and Wimbledon are subject to delays and short notice cancellations.....

"Engineers are on site making the necessary repairs to enable us to reopen the line however we currently have no estimate for when a normal service will resume.

"We are sorry for the disruption to your journey this morning."

Commuters' frustration vented on Twitter

South West Trains passengers have been taking to Twitter this morning, to express their frustration at delays caused by emergency engineering works.

Major disruption on trains through Wimbledon

Emergency engineering works are also causing disruption on all South West Trains through Wimbledon this morning.

Network Rail says passengers can expect delays of up to 50 minutes - and the following services have been altered until further notice:

  • A train shuttle is running between Hampton Court and Surbiton. Customers travelling to London Waterloo will need to change trains at Surbiton.
  • A train shuttle is running between Shepperton and Kingston. Customers travelling to London Waterloo will need to change trains at Kingston.
  • Services to and from Exeter / Yeovil / Salisbury will terminate at Basingstoke. Passengers should connect with alternative services at Basingtoke.
  • Services to and from Dorking are cancelled. Passengers travelling on this route can use Southern services between Dorking and Clapham Junction / London Victoria until further notice.
