Two men have appeared in court accused of threatening to blow up an aeroplane and kill its passengers and crew. Tayyab Subhani and Mohammed Saf-dar were arrested on Friday after a plane from Pakistan to Manchester was diverted to Stansted Airport.

Taxi driver Tayyab Subhani, 30, and restaurant worker Mohammed Safdar, 41, both from Lancashire, are charged with endangering an aircraft, after a passenger jet from Pakistan to Manchester was diverted with an RAF fighter escort to the Essex air hub on Friday.
The Typhoon jet was scrambled to escort the Boeing 777 flight over UK airspace before it was diverted to Stansted, where it landed at 2.15pm.They are both due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court in Essex.
