Laura Robson has beaten New Zealand's Marina Erakovic to take her place in the fourth round.

Estonia's Kaia Kanepi beat America's Alison Riske today to set up a fourth round tie against Britain's Laura Robson.

Kanepi, 28, is ranked 46th in the world and has previously reached the quarter-final stages of Wimbledon, the US Open and the French Open.

She reached a career-high singles ranking of 15 in August 2012.

Robson is currently ranked 38 and has never been higher than 35.

If the rest of this year's Wimbledon ladies' matches were won by the higher-ranked player, Laura Robson would be faced with the following route to the Championship:

  • Fourth round: Kaia Kanepi (Estonia, world rank 46)
  • Quarter-final: Serena Williams (USA, 1)
  • Semi-final: Agnieszka Radwanska (Poland, 4)
  • Final: Na Li (China, 6)

Robson: Wimbledon crowd 'totally amazing'

Laura Robson said the Court 2 crowd played an important role in helping her overcoming New Zealand's Marina Erakovic.

"They were amazing. Honesty, it was totally amazing out there," she told BBC Sport.

Robson is the first British woman to reach Wimbledon's last 16 since Sam Smith 15 years ago.

Laura Robson recovered from a set and a break down to overcome third round opponent Marina Erakovic 1-6 7-5 6-3.

Robson will face either Alison Riske (USA, world rank 126) or Kaia Kanepi (Estonia, 46) in the last 16.

The Briton, 19, could then face world number 1 Serena Williams in the quarter-final.
