Britain's largest offshore wind farm has been welcomed by the chief executive of Friends of the Earth, who said that it is an energy scheme to be "proud of". Andy Atkins said:

The London Array is described as the world's largest offshore wind farm. It has 175 wind turbines and can generate enough power for 500,000 homes.
The UK's most widely known offshore wind-farm, London Array, will be officially opened today. Its 175 turbines are capable of generating enough clean energy to power nearly half a million homes.
It also has the capacity to reduce harmful CO2 emissions by over 900,000 tonnes a year - making a huge impact to the environment whilst providing a reliable source of electricity to south-east England.
