Open East Festival begins

A two-day festival begins at the new Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park today, on the site of the former Olympic Park in Stratford.

Open East Festival celebrates the one year anniversary of the London 2012 Games, as well as the public opening of the newly named park.

Festival highlights include:

  • Artist Jeremy Deller's life size blow up replica of Stonehenge, called "Sacrilege"

  • A music stage with musicians from around the world including Mali, the Congo, Columbia, Jamaica, and London 2012's very own Pandemonium drummers from the Opening Ceremony

  • The Art Car Boot Fair, featuring leading East-London artists including Bob & Roberta Smith, Gavin Turk and Pure Evil

  • A 10 Mile Beer Festival showcasing beers from local breweries within a 10 mile radius of the Park
