Met Police Officer Steven Wickenden told the inquest: "In general cyclists refer to blue areas as cycle lanes, very few aware of the difference."
The Coroner's response:
I am surprised that superhighways exist if that is the view of the Met Police.
The Met Police replied:
Ultimately TfL are the authority. The road capacity is not the concern of the police, but it is of TfL.
At the inquest into the death of Brian Dorling at Bow roundabout. Met Police traffic expert has focused on the ambiguity of 'blue superhighways'. Met Traffic Officer Steven Wickenden said: "The use of blue superhighway is ambiguous and leads to confusion to road users."
