Killer escapes mental health unit

A convicted killer has escaped from a mental health centre in Homerton. Police are appealing for assistance in tracing Lerone Boye, who murdered a 17-year-old in 2011.

Murderer still on the run in Hackney

A convicted killer is still on the run from a mental health unit in Hackney after escaping on Wednesday afternoon.

Police have not yet managed to track down 27 year old Lerone Michael Boye who escaped on Wednesday. He was sentenced 28 years in jail last December for the murder of 17-year-old Kelvin Chibueze in Ilford.

If Boye is seen, the Met are advising people not to approach him and call 999 instead.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts can also call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Security reviewed as killer escapes mental health unit

East London NHS Foundation Trust has launched an immediate internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape of a patient from the John Howard Centre.

We have reviewed our security and processes as a matter of urgency.

The Trust is working with the police to assist them with their investigation.
