Northern and Bakerloo line services will not stop at Embankment station for most of next year while escalator work is completed, causing major disruption for passengers.
Transport for London say the closures will last for a total of 43 weeks over 2014, beginning on January 8th. They are advising passengers wanting to use either line to go to Waterloo or Charing Cross stations close by.
The work will involve four escalators which were installed more than 80 years ago and were last refurbished in the 1970s. TfL claims the work would involve replacing all four at once, and if it had been phased it would have taken "at least 75 weeks".
Circle and District line trains will continue to stop at Embankment during the work.
