An east end Pie and Mash shop has been given official listed status because of its design and historical interest.

Gilt lettering & white-tiled interior helps seal listed status

The shop was given listed status because of its historical interest. The Heritage Minister, Ed Vaizey, says it embodies the standard features of the London eel, pie and mash shop, from the gilt lettering on the shop-front to the white-tiled interior with mirrors, seating booths and marble counters.

East End Pie & Mash shop given official listed status

A Pie and Mash shop in London's East End has been given official Grade II listed status by the government.

L Manze Eel, Pie and Mash Shop on Walthamstow High Street was originally bought in 1929 when Luigi Manze employed architect Herbert Wright to design it. The Manze family then continued to run the shop until 1970.
