Tushar Biswas, who works at the newsagent targeted by the tunneling thieves, says the shop may be forced to close because they can't afford to lose so much money.
Thieves who tunnelled into the cellar of a north London newsagents made off with £7,000 of cash, alcohol and cigarettes. The gang spent five hours drilling through the wall of Highgate Plus from an empty basement next door.
The gang sprayed CCTV cameras with shaving foam before making off. Tushar Biswas, Shop Assistant said:
"They dug the tunnel, and broke into the shop and came upstairs from the basement. They ransacked the shop and took the cash from our cash register, more than £4,000. And they grabbed all the cigarettes, and stock from the shelves which cost £3,000."
