A 23-month-old girl who was found dead along with her mother at an address in Hackney died after suffering incised wounds to the neck.

The post-mortem investigation of Valerie Forde, 45, found that she died of multiple injuries.

Ms Forde and her daughter Real-Jahzarah McKoy were found at a property in Oswald's Mead, Hackney on Monday.

A 53-year-old man, who also suffered injuries at the address, is in a stable condition in an east London hospital.

He has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The Directorate of Professional Standards has referred prior contact with the victim to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

Police have formally identified a mother and daughter who were found dead at a house in Hackney, east London.

The bodies of Valerie Forde, 45, and her 23-month-old daughter Real-Jahzarah McKoy were found at an address in Oswald's Mead, Hackney on Monday.

A post-mortem examination of the child will take place tomorrow, with an assessment of Ms Forde's body due to take place on Thursday.

A 53-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in a stable condition in an east London hospital.

Service held tonight for mother and daughter

A service has been held tonight for a 45 year old woman and her toddler daughter found dead at their home in Hackney.

The woman, named locally as Valerie Ford, and her daughter 23 month old Jahzara were found when police were called to Oswald Mead this morning.

A 53-year old man thought to have been in a relationship with the victim was found injured and has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Tonight a service was held at the Wally Foster Community Centre in Hackney.

After the service Reverend Angie Meloaniphy said:

I've known her for a long time. She was always at the centre of this community. She was a genuinely lovely woman.

She cared for everyone and every one loved her.

This community is in shock. They've come together to give each other comfort and support."

Neighbours expressed their shock today after a woman and her young daughter were found dead in their home.

The 45-year-old woman and her 23-month old daughter were discovered after police were called to an address in Oswald Mead, Hackney, east London, shortly after 9am today.

A 53-year old man - who is thought to have been in a relationship with the victim - was found injured and has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The victims were named locally as Valerie Forde, a youth support worker, and her daughter Jahzara.
