Boris Johnson has urged Londoners to continue to head to the Olympic Park after figures revealed that 50,000 people visited the area on its opening weekend.
The London Legacy Development Corporation led the transformation of the park in just 18 months as new walkways, playgrounds water fountains were introduced.
"Londoners have voted with their feet by turning up in their hoards to declare this opening weekend a great success. With a season of bank holidays nearly upon us, I urge families to head East and visit London’s latest visitor attraction," the mayor added.
Over 50,000 people visited the Olympic Park on its opening weekend, new figures have revealed.
The south of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park opened to the public for the first time since the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games last weekend.
The park has been redeveloped in efforts to attract visitors to the east London area.
Prince Harry, Boris Johnson and local schoolchildren tested out the new facilities, including a adventure playground, last week ahead of the opening.
