A major demonstration is planned for central London this afternoon, with the police warning of heavy traffic around Oxford Street as a result of road closures.
The Palestinian Solidarity Campaign (PSC) and Stop the War will hold a march and rally in central London, forming up in front of the BBC's Broadcasting House from midday.
The marchers will move off at 1pm and take the following route: Regents Street - Oxford Street - North Audley Street - Grosvenor Square - Upper Grosvenor Street - Park Lane -Hyde Park via Cumberland Gate and North Carriage Drive
The organisers plan to end the march and rally in Hyde Park around 5pm.
On its website, the the Metropolitan Police said: "The MPS is working closely with organisers and partners to ensure the march passes off peacefully and protestors stay safe. There will be Police Liaison Officers on duty throughout the event linking in and engaging with the demonstrators.
"In addition to the march route, it will be necessary to close a number of roads around the Oxford Street area. This will undoubtedly cause significant traffic, crowd and business disruption in the vicinity. There will also be an increase in noise levels. Transport hubs will be busier than usual."
The Met said there would be severe disruption to normal traffic flow in and around the route of the march and said drivers should look for different ways to get around and avoid central during Saturday afternoon and early evening.
The Prudential Ride London cycle event is also taking place this evening in and around the West End of London and the City of London where again there will be extensive road closures and disruption.
