Thames Water apologises for Ealing chaos

Thames Water has issued a statement apologising for the disruption caused by a burst water main in Ealing. An estimated 4000 homes and around 30 businesses have been affected.

Here is the statement in full:

"A 30” water main burst in Ealing around 7.30 this morning. This has shut The Broadway at the junction with The Mall.

"Engineers are rerouting water around the network but an issue with a pumping station has hampered our efforts to restore water to the affected customers

"We are very sorry for the inconvenience and are working to get this fixed as quickly as possible."

Road closures in place due to Ealing flood

Thousands of homes and around 30 shops have been affected by flooding in Ealing. Firefighters sent four appliances to the scene to pump away water and isolate the main.

Many houses are still without water, although residents have been advised by Thames Water that pressure should begin to return later this afternoon.
