Reports of racist chants at Spurs Europa League clash

It has been reported that Tottenham players were tonight subjected to racist chants by Inter Milan supporters, who were also seen waving an inflatable banana.

Spurs lost 4-1 after extra-time on the night but progressed to the Europa League quarter-finals on away goals after the tie finished 4-4 on aggregate.

Monkey chants appeared to be aimed at several Tottenham players, notably goalscorer Emmanuel Adebayor, while a fan was seen with an inflatable banana.

Villas-Boas to be unveiled as Spurs boss

Andre Villas-Boas is expected to be unveiled as the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur manager today. The 34-year-old Portuguese coach has signed a three year deal. He'll be hoping to improve on a disappointing eight-month reign as Chelsea manager. He replaces Harry Redknapp, who was fired last month.

Tottenham have released a statement about new manger Andre Villas-Boas:

The Club is delighted to announce that Andre Villas-Boas has joined as our new Head Coach on a 3 year contract.

Andre was previously at Porto and led them to an undefeated season in the league, winning four trophies and becoming the youngest manager ever to win a European title in the process, before joining Chelsea and extending his run to 39 games undefeated.

Commenting on the appointment, Chairman, Daniel Levy said: "He has an outstanding reputation for his technical knowledge of the game and for creating well-organised teams capable of playing football in an attractive and attacking style. "

First Challenge For Di Matteo

Chelsea will play their first match with new caretaker manager Roberto Di Matteo in charge tonight, as they take on Birmingham in the FA cup fifth round replay.

The assistant manager has been put in charge until the end of the season after the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas.
