London honors the nail industry

The magazine for nail professionals, Scratch will be holding their annual awards ceremony tonight in London. The Scratch Awards 2013 will honor the pioneers in the nail world. It's the only one of its kind dedicated solely to the nail industry.

Awards that are up for grabs include Nail Stylist of the Year, Mixed Media Artist of the Year, Manicurist of the Year and many more.The event is taking place at the Supperclub in West London tonight at 7pm.


Screen Actors' award for London born Day-Lewis

Daniel Day-Lewis continued his domination of the awards season when he triumphed at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles yesterday.

The London born star, has won a Golden Globe and is favourite to win again at this year's Oscars for his performance of the American President in "Lincoln".

Accepting his award, he said: "It occurred to me, it was an actor that murdered Abraham Lincoln.

"And therefore, somehow, it is only so fitting that every now and then an actor tries to bring him back to life again."

These brand-new developments are some of the recently completed schemes as part of Southwark Council’s Heygate re-housing programme.Library Street and Brandon Street will complete in June with a further 103 homes built which are 100% affordable with 85% social rented.

Inspirational Migrants Recognised

A cleaner on the underground, who campaigned for her colleagues to be paid the London Living Wage, is among those who have been been honoured at the Migrant and Refugee Woman of the Year Awards.

Clara Osagiede moved to the capital from Nigeria, where she had been involved in student politics.

One of her colleagues said: “Clara is a passionate fighter for justice at every level. Her experiences of life and migration are a source of strength to her. She will still be fighting when the rest of us are put out to grass.”
