A Mass has been held All Saints Blackheath church for Oliver Dearlove who died in a street attack in the area.

Man, 30, fighting for his life after street attack

A 30-year-old man is fighting for his life after being attacked in the street.

The victim is in a critical condition after being assaulted in Blackheath, south east London in the early hours of August 28.

A cordon is likely to remain in place for the rest of the day while police officers investigate the attack, which happened at about 12.45am.

Part of the village has been closed to traffic and pedestrians and bus routes have been diverted.

Worshippers at a nearby church prayed for the victim and his family and friends during mass.

Officers from Greenwich CID continue to investigate.

Teen missing from Blackheath.

A 15-year-old girl has gone missing from her home in Blackheath.

Rossana Manuel hasn't been seen since 2pm on Thursday 14th May.

She is a black female of slim build and around 5ft 8ins tall. She has black hair with a black hair extension pony tail. She was last seen wearing black shiny leggings, a brown chiffon top with a grey top underneath.

Anyone who knows her whereabouts or has seen her is asked to call the police non-emergency line on 101.

Food van destroyed during fireworks

A mobile catering van was destroyed on Saturday night during the fireworks display on Blackheath Common.

Two men and a woman suffered from smoke inhalation and burns and were taken to hospital by ambulance. The fire didn’t affect any other catering vans.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and quickly extinguished the blaze. Two gas cylinders were involved in the fire, so crews cooled them down to make them safe as cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.

Two fire engines and ten firefighters attended the incident. The Brigade’s fire investigators are working to establish the cause of the fire.
