Food van destroyed during fireworks

A mobile catering van was destroyed on Saturday night during the fireworks display on Blackheath Common.

Two men and a woman suffered from smoke inhalation and burns and were taken to hospital by ambulance. The fire didn’t affect any other catering vans.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and quickly extinguished the blaze. Two gas cylinders were involved in the fire, so crews cooled them down to make them safe as cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.

Two fire engines and ten firefighters attended the incident. The Brigade’s fire investigators are working to establish the cause of the fire.
